First Place Award - Contest for Official poster for the XXI edition of the Italian language week in the world

I had the honor to be awarded first place and have my poster design selected to be the official poster in Macedonia for the XXI edition of the Italian language week in the world. Every year in October, The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Farnesina) holds the Week of the Italian Language in the World. This contest was part of the 21st edition of the festival, which is one of the most important initiatives aimed at celebrating the Italian language and culture. The extensive programme includes visual art exhibitions, concerts, and live performances in many countries across multiple continents.

The idea
Painting as a way of expressing our ideas is a traditional, historical and timeless form of art. When painting is used in a digital artwork it gives off a historical feeling, and in that way it matches the celebration of Dante Alighieri. However, the way I painted the portrait is experimental and modern, and it connects us to the present time as well.
The execution
For the creation of the poster, I used oil paint on a black background and using a palette knife I painted the portrait of Dante. Afterward, with my camera, I took a photograph of the painted portrait in the sunlight. The way the photo was taken played a huge role as well - I wanted the texture of the paint to be visible so it can be noticeable that it is painted by hand. The sunlight was coming from the side so it was the setting I needed for the shadows to appear from the paint. It is a carefully crafted photo that shows the painting in its best light.
