Brisley Design Associates, an interior design firm from Michigan, has the mission to design the kind of interiors where people like to linger. Elizabeth Brisley, founder and principal interior designer at BDA, aims to make people's homes feel elevated, high-end, and aesthetic while balancing it with immense comfort, function, and budget. When developing the brand identity for Brisley Design Associates, my mission was to communicate this balance that they create in their work. In the strategy phase, we defined BDA's strong USP and positioning: they truly include clients in the interior process and decision-making, while guiding it and carrying the weight. This makes the process enjoyable and collaborative, and this is what makes clients choose BDA specifically.

A variable brand element
I chose the open rectangle to be the base of the brand identity and to be its variable element. It serves 3 purposes:
Symbolism - It symbolizes an enclosed space, a home, and creation. The rectangle is the base on which the concepts for all interior design are built and it takes whatever shape, dimensions, or function it is given.
A unified and dynamic identity - The rectangle unifies the 2 logos while still giving each its own character. It is envisioned to appear in all the monogram logos of future members who join the team and will appear across their stationery.
Consistent branding - the rectangle appears as a frame all over the branding - from the stationery to the portfolio design.

Warmth + high-end, the way to the heart of BDA's audience
The typography along with the minimalism and the heaps of negative space give the branding a high-end feel. The color palette with its beige, brown and caramel create a warm, cozy and approachable feel.
This helps Elizabeth attract the exact clients she is looking for - the ones looking for extra cozy homes that look refined.

Website design & the caramel line that unifies the brand.
The website is sleek and constantly incorporates the signature caramel rectangle of the branding to reinforce the brand in animated elements that add depth and make the website dynamic and easier to follow. The copywriting highlights their USP and defines their powerful position in the market - they don't only have a signature interior style, they have a signature interior process.

Custom iconography for a stylized look, smooth communication & good user experience.
The custom iconography of the website serves the most important purpose: guiding potential clients to choose which of the four services is the right one for them. The visual symbolism makes it easier to grasp the scope of each service and compare them at a glance.
